IEC 61034 Smoke Density Measuring Device for Cable Optical Cable Burning Test Machine

 

1. Introduction

It meets the requirements of GB/T17651.1~2 and IEC61034-1~2 “Determination of Smoke Density of Burning Cables or Fiber Optic Cables under Specific Conditions” Part 1 “Test Equipment” and Part 2 “Test Procedures and Requirements”. Measurement of smoke density is an important aspect of evaluating the burning characteristics of cables or optical fiber cables, which is related to evacuation of personnel and judging the proximity to the fire. The instrument is mainly used to measure the smoke concentration and verify the smoke density of cables and fiber optic cables when they burn under specific conditions. Under flaming or flameless burning conditions, transmittance is used as a measurement method to compare the burning performance of different cables or fiber optic cables under specific conditions.


2. Features
The instrument involves three major specialized knowledge in mechanics, optics and electronics. It is a mechatronic product with reasonable structure, stable performance and easy operation; it adopts Windows XP operation interface, LabVIEW style and perfect safety mechanism. During the test, the measurement results can be displayed in real time, and the perfect curve (showing transmittance and time curve) can be drawn dynamically. Data can be permanently saved, read and printed, and reports can be printed directly.
Measurement software: Windows XP + VB6.0 operating interface, can test the main data: smoke optical density, relative optical density, smoke rate, maximum smoke rate, average smoke density and so on. Also has calibration, editing, testing, parameter adjustment and other operating interfaces. The program adopts automatic computer control, acquisition, recording and result settlement.


3. Principle
The smoke density optical measurement system for cable or optical cable burning under specific conditions consists of a light source, a silicon photocell, a light source receiver and a computer system. The light generated by the light source passes through a 3m×3m×3m smoke density laboratory and forms a uniform beam of light with a diameter of 1.5m±0.1m on the wall opposite the light source. The photocell installed in the center of the beam detects the intensity of the beam from the light source. When a large amount of smoke is generated in the combustion chamber due to the burning of cables or optical cables, the smoke absorbs part of the photoelectricity and the beam intensity of the silicon photocell is weakened. By processing the data through the computer system, the transmittance with a linear response relative to the initial transmittance can be calculated to be 100%.
The design of the combustion chamber adopts two ways for customers to choose: the first brick wall, our company recommends the design plan and sends professional engineers to guide the construction on site; the second is fixed on the angle iron bracket with suitable materials to form the entire cubic combustion chamber.


4. Equipment composition
The whole instrument is composed of closed test chamber, photometer measuring system, alcohol plate, combustion system, igniter, test box, cable bracket, thermometer table and smoke density testing software; The circuit is developed by single chip microcomputer with high technical content and stable performance. This instrument is suitable for all cables, and is widely used in production plants and scientific research and testing units of wire and cable industry. The test chamber is a test cube with a volume of 27m3.
