Test Chamber Structure | Constructed from calcium silicate board (thickness: 13 ± 1 mm; nominal density: 650 kg/m³) and fire-resistant glass (dimensions: 110 ± 10 mm × 1100 ± 100 mm). The fire-resistant glass is made of high-temperature quartz glass and is mounted on the front of the chamber, allowing for observation of the specimen's status and combustion progress through the viewing window. A metal protective layer covers the exterior of the test chamber. A tightly sealing door is installed below the viewing window to allow the specimen platform to be moved in or out. The panels are fabricated from high-quality stainless steel with a thickness of 1.2 mm. |
Sliding Platform & Airflow Area | A sliding platform is located at the bottom of the test chamber, ensuring the specimen holder remains in a fixed horizontal position. The total airflow area between the test chamber and the specimen holder is (0.23 ± 0.03) m², distributed evenly along the two long sides of the specimen. |
Radiant Heat Source | A porous ceramic radiant panel mounted within a metal frame. The frame is made of stainless steel (thickness: 2.5 ± 0.2 mm), and the panel itself is made of porous refractory material. The radiating surface measures (300 ± 10) mm × (450 ± 10) mm. The panel is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 900°C. An air-gas mixing system ensures test stability and repeatability. The radiant heating panel is mounted above the specimen holder, with its long side positioned at an angle of (30 ± 1)° relative to the horizontal plane. |
Specimen Holder (Specimen Rack) | Constructed from fire-resistant L-shaped stainless steel with a thickness of (2.0 ± 0.1) mm. The dimensions of the exposed specimen surface are (200 ± 3) mm × (1015 ± 10) mm. The holder is secured at both ends to a sliding steel platform by two screws, and the specimen is fixed onto the holder; the total thickness of the holder assembly is (22 ± 2) mm. The surface of the holder features scale markings to facilitate observation. |
Igniter (Burner) | Made of stainless steel with an inner diameter of 6 mm and an outer diameter of 10 mm. The igniter features two rows of holes: 19 radially arranged holes (0.7 mm in diameter) are evenly distributed along the centerline, and 16 radially arranged holes (0.7 mm in diameter) are evenly distributed along a line positioned 60° below the centerline. |
Ignition Control Parameters | During the test, the propane gas flow rate is controlled at (0.026 ± 0.002) L/s. The igniter is positioned so that the flames issuing from the lower row of holes make contact with the specimen at a point (10 ± 2) mm ahead of the specimen's zero point. When in the ignition position, the igniter is located 3 mm above the edge of the specimen holder; when ignition is not required, the igniter is retracted to a position 60 mm away from the specimen's zero point, with movement automatically controlled by pneumatic components. |
