1.Description:
The cupping test (also known as the indentation test) is used to evaluate the anti-cracking or anti-separation performance of a coating film after it is gradually deformed under standard conditions. The minimum depth to which the punch is pressed when the paint film is damaged is the cup-protrusion index (also known as the Erichsen number), expressed in millimeters.
The BGD 309 cupping tester is a latest testing instrument independently designed by Biegeda Company in combination with similar advanced foreign products. Its structure consists of a desktop device with a steel body and a steel ball test head with a diameter of 20mm, also known as a punch. Press it against the unpainted side of the test board with a certain force; Turn the handwheel at a certain speed (recommended: 0.2mm/s) to push the steel ball up and observe the surface of the test plate through a magnifying glass. When the test plate deforms and the first crack is observed to appear, immediately stop rotating the handwheel and read the cup protrusion depth value from the liquid crystal display screen.
This machine is designed in accordance with GB/T 9753, DIN ISO 1520 and BS 3900. It is mostly suitable for the coating of metal plates in the home appliance industry (determining the stretchability and adhesion of the paint film on the metal surface), and is also applicable to the coating on some non-metallic substrates.
