Digital Los Angeles Abrasion Test Machine Stone Aggregates Abrasion Rate Analyzer Stone Wear Rate Tester LA Abrasion Loss Tester
Purpose
The Los Angeles Abrasion Testing Machine meets the technical requirements of the Test Methods of Aggregate for Highway Engineering (JTJ058-2000) T 0317-2000 and is used to determine the abrasion rate of stone aggregates of various grades and specifications.
Main Structure
The instrument consists primarily of a cylinder, a shelf (vane), a sealed cover, a support frame, a spindle, a gearbox, a motor, a hopper, and a counter.
Working Principle
The Los Angeles abrasion test involves placing a specified quantity of coarse aggregate of defined gradation into the abrasion machine along with a specified number and mass of steel balls. After rotating for a set number of revolutions, the sample undergoes abrasion due to the combined effects of friction, impact, and shearing from the aggregate itself and the steel balls; the resulting loss in mass represents the abrasion rate.
Commissioning and Installation
1. Before starting, check for any contact or scraping between the rotating parts and the material cylinder; adjust immediately if necessary.
2. Fill the gearbox with machine oil before use; also apply machine oil to the discharge worm gear and sliding bearings.
3. Clean out any debris from inside the material cylinder.
4. Lock the cylinder locking mechanism before starting the machine.
5. If the direction of rotation is incorrect upon startup, cut off the power, swap the positions of any two phase wires, and restart the machine. 6. Adjust the timer setting on the time-delay relay according to the required abrasion duration; ensure this adjustment is made while the power is off.
7. Press the start button.
8. The machine will stop automatically once the set time has elapsed.
9. To unload: first stop the machine, then release the drum locking handle. Next, rotate the handwheel to tilt the drum—driven by the worm gear assembly—to a convenient position for discharging. Stop rotating, then start the machine to run the main shaft and discharge the material. Once unloading is complete, stop the machine and rotate the handwheel to return the drum to its original position.
10. Clean the drum: pour water into the drum and run the main shaft to thoroughly rinse the drum and mixing blades; alternatively, sand may be used for cleaning.
