Automatic Scratch Tester

Used to test the scratch resistance of metal surface coatings, such as coil paint, tin can ink, metal paint, automotive surface coatings, etc. It is also applicable for evaluating the surface scratch resistance of single or composite coatings on color coated boards. Evaluate the scratch resistance of the coating based on the maximum weight of a spherical steel needle that has scratched or not scratched the coating under a certain weight. During testing, use a hemispherical scribe with a diameter of 1mm to slowly touch the surface being tested and make a scratch approximately 10cm long. Depending on the testing purpose and the load applied, varying degrees of penetration can be observed, ranging from surface traces to thorough penetration. The motor drives the sample to lightly contact the scratch needle, which runs over the sample and automatically stops when it reaches the endpoint. The contact between the scratch needle and the metal substrate is identified by a voltmeter. When the coating of the tested sample is scratched, the ammeter shows that there is current passing through.
