Product Introduction

Powder Physical Property Analyzer – The outer casing is manufactured using sheet metal fabrication, and the product surface is coated with environmentally friendly, non-polluting electrostatic powder coating technology, significantly enhancing wear resistance and corrosion resistance. All measuring tools and vibrating components of this instrument are precisely machined from stainless steel materials. This versatile, user-friendly device offers excellent repeatability, providing convenient solutions for research institutes and manufacturing enterprises in measuring the physical properties of powders and granular materials.

 

Product Applications

1. This testing instrument can measure multiple physical properties of powders and granular materials, including repose angle, collapse angle, plate angle, difference angle, dispersibility, bulk density, tapped density, compressibility, porosity, cohesiveness, uniformity, flowability index, and flow rate index.

2. The parameters measured by this product and their significance:

Angle of repose: The acute angle formed between the surface of a powder pile and the horizontal base in static equilibrium is called the angle of repose. It is formed when powder naturally falls onto a specific platform under controlled conditions. The size of the angle of repose directly reflects the flowability of the powder—the smaller the angle, the better the powder's flow properties. The angle of repose is also known as the resting angle or natural slope angle.

Collapse angle: When measuring the repose angle, applying a certain external force to the piled powder may cause the surface of the pile to collapse. The acute angle formed between the collapsed powder pile's slope and the horizontal base is called the collapse angle.

Angle difference: The difference between the repose angle and the collapse angle is called the angle difference. The larger the angle difference, the better the flowability of the powder.

Plate angle: The average angle between the free surface (inclined plane) of powder on a flat plate and the horizontal plane, when the plate is vertically lifted from a naturally piled powder bed after being subjected to a certain impact, is called the plate angle. A smaller plate angle indicates better powder flowability. Generally, the plate angle is greater than the repose angle. The plate angle is also known as the spatula angle.

Tap density refers to the density of a powder after a specific weight (or volume) of powder is packed into a container and subjected to a certain intensity of vibration, which reduces the voids between particles and compacts them into a dense state. The resulting density of the powder under these conditions is known as tap density.

Bulk density: Bulk density refers to the density of a powder when it is naturally filled into a specific container.

Compressibility: Compressibility is defined as the ratio of the difference between the tapped density and the bulk density to the tapped density. The lower the compressibility, the better the powder's flowability. Compressibility is also known as compression rate.

Dispersion: Dispersion refers to the degree to which powder particles disperse in air. It is related to the powder's dispersibility, floating ability, and tendency to splash. If the dispersion exceeds 50%, it indicates that the sample has a strong tendency to splash.

Porosity refers to the percentage of voids in a powder relative to the total volume of the powder. Porosity varies depending on factors such as particle shape, arrangement structure, and particle size. When particles are spherical, the porosity is approximately 40%; for irregularly shaped particles, the porosity can range from 70% to 80% or higher.

Uniformity: Uniformity is the ratio of D60 to D10 in particle size distribution.

Agglomeration degree: The mass of agglomerated powder remaining on the sieve after a specified vibration period using a standard sieve. Higher agglomeration degree indicates poorer flowability of the powder. This parameter is suitable for fine or ultrafine powders prone to agglomeration.

Flowability Index: The flowability index is a weighted sum of various parameters such as repose angle, compressibility, tabletting angle, uniformity, and cohesion. The flowability index is related to compressibility.

Jet Index: The jet index is a weighted sum of various indices, including fluidity index, collapse angle, differential angle, and dispersion degree.
