Introduction

The water absorption test system always maintains a constant liquid level of the sample under test. The liquid is supplied to the sample through a siphon from the liquid storage tank. The weight of the liquid-filled storage tank is measured by a precision electronic balance (0.001g, 10 data points per second) and monitored by a program running in the Windows environment. The program uses the weight information to calculate the liquid level in the storage tank and then controls the height of the sample to match the liquid level. The height adjustment is maintained by an electric precision lead screw assembly. The weight of the absorbed liquid is recorded in real time to the hard disk. The graph of the absorption rate is immediately drawn in the user interface window.
