GB/T 8167-2008 Dynamic Compression Test Method for Packaging Cushioning Materials
Instrument Purpose
This instrument is mainly used to evaluate the cushioning performance of cushioning materials under impact and their ability to protect packaged products during distribution.
The packaging cushioning materials used in this standard can be in the form of blocks, sheets, filaments, granules, and molded parts, including soft and hard cushioning materials such as EPS/EPE. It is not applicable to corrugated cardboard, EPE film, metal springs, and shock-absorbing rubber.
Equipment Principle
An impact load is applied to the packaging cushioning material using a freely falling hammer. The acceleration and net stress are calculated to determine the dynamic compression performance of the cushioning material. The test results are expressed as the dynamic compression characteristic curve of the cushioning material.
Operating Principle
Performance Testing: The sample is placed in the center of the drop test platform. The motor and reducer drive the precision ball screw to rotate, causing the release module to move up/down. When the impact platform reaches a set height, the release module is released, allowing the platform to fall under its own weight and impact the sample. To prevent the cushioning material from causing the impact platform to rebound and generate a secondary impact, the platform locks itself after the drop impact is complete. Simultaneously, an accelerometer detects the final impact velocity of the platform, converts the velocity into an analog signal, processes it through the acquisition and control board, and sends it to the computer for display.

3. Data Output: Raw data can be exported/graphics can be exported/electronic reports can be generated.
(IV) Operation Impact Features:

2. Break-off Holding: The sample can be clamped and not fall off in the power-off state, ensuring safety and reliability.
3. Lifting Structure: The servo motor drives the lead screw to move up and down.
4. Free Impact: The machine is optimized to ensure free fall and minimize the coefficient of friction.
(V) Operation Display
1. The machine can be operated through both the touch screen and the host computer.
2. The 10-inch touch screen can be used for hammer clamping, running, and releasing, making it convenient for users to adjust and use.
3. The host computer software has the function of a touch screen and also has the functions of data acquisition, display, and software analysis.
